Topic: Alpha 1 Antitrypsin deficiency - a genetic defect that causes COPD.
We are bringing in a guest speaker from California, a survivor of Alpha 1 Antitrypsin deficiency.
Better Breathers Clubs offer the opportunity to learn ways to better cope with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) while getting the support of others who share in struggles. These support groups give patients the tools needed to live the best quality of life.
Better Breathers Clubs meet regularly and feature educational presentations on a wide range of relevant topics, including:
* How COPD affects the lungs
* Tobacco Cessation
* Breathing techniques
* Exercise
* Talking with your physician
* Medications and other treatment options
* Medical testing
* Supplemental oxygen
* Home health care
* Lung transplants
* Air pollution
If you know of a patient that feel alone and isolated, these support groups can help. It feels good to talk with others who understand, which has a positive impact on health.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this exciting venture.
