“Children of Courage” Healing Run/Walk
Two weeks ago two of our 'girls on the run' Madison and Kayla and their sister Kyla, lost their mom Jessie and their stepfather in a highly publicized murder-suicide. Jessie Raponi was an avid supporter of Girls on the Run and expressed to me her hope of raising strong, confident daughters.
Our girls on the run who work with Madison and Kayla were moved to respond to this tragedy with positive action and we are proud to sponsor the upcoming "Children of Courage" Healing Run/Walk with A NEW DATE:
Date: Friday May 14th, 2010
Timeline: 5:00 PM, time of gathering at the Ramada
5:30 PM, special program honoring girls and survivors at the Ramada
6:00 PM, run/walk the two mile loop together- move forward!
Location: Buffalo Park, Flagstaff
Special Request: Please wear GREEN, color of growth and new life!
The purpose of this run is to honor the courage, strength and resilience of Madison, Kayla, Kyla and other children who have survived domestic violence. The focus of the event will be on uplifting the amazing Girls on the Run qualities these girls and other survivors that we can all learn from. The intention is to create a space of healing and support through a hopeful message and opportunity to simply run together. The event is free and open to the community.
