Luna Fest

Flagstaff Medical Center’s Women and Infants’ Center is hosting LUNAFEST at Prochnow Auditorium on October 7, 2012. LUNAFEST is a national, traveling film festival that features award-winning films by, for, about women. The LUNAFEST films range from animation to fictional drama and cover topics relating to women’s health, body image, relationships, cultural diversity, breaking barriers, motherhood and more. LUNAFEST promotes women filmmakers, raises awareness for women’s issues and supports women’s non-profit organizations. This season's program of nine selected films will promote discussion, bring laughter, tears, and motivate women to make a difference in their community. A description of the films is attached, as well as an event flier. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and FMC’s Pregnancy and Postpartum Adjustment Programs that provide free screening, education, referrals and a weekly support group for women and their families suffering from Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.

Project Connect

Project Connect

On Saturday, Sept 29, the Flagstaff Continuum of Care is hosting a Project Connect at Christ Church from 9am to 1pm. This is a wonderful event that helps to change lives by accessing needed services in one place!

Many of our guests at Project Connect are homeless or near homelessness and need support and help in stabilizing their lives. We served over 700 guests at our last event in January, 2012 and hope to assist that many individuals again.

This is an entirely volunteer effort and we could use your HELP! Volunteering as a guide or in another service capacity has been a heartwarming experience for many community members in the past. We had over 250 volunteers at our last Connect and could have used more. To obtain a volunteer registration form, contact our committee chair: Michael Van Ness LASR (Laboratory for Applied Social Research) Manager, Northern Arizona University (mevanness@gmail.com) 928-523-7029.

Thank you for your time in considering this event! I hope to see you at Project Connect!

Sincerely,

E. Dru Monroe, MSW, LCSW
