Slow Food NAU Presents
The Second Annual Flagstaff Food Film Festival
February 18, 4pm-9pm, February 19, 12pm-9pm
Cline Auditorium, Northern Arizona University
The Flagstaff Food Film Festival seeks to advance the understanding of the environmental and social problems surrounding our current food system. The festival will present thought-provoking films such as Ingredients, Food Stamped, and The Vanishing of the Bees, and will provide the opportunity to network with student and community food groups. Local chefs will provide samples from their local and regional menus and there will be chances to win local veggies (from Flagstaff Community Supported Agriculture) and other prizes.
The film festival will also welcome keynote speaker Mark Winne, author, food justice advocate, and co-founder of the Community Food Security Coalition. Winne’s two books Closing the Food Gap: Resetting the Table in the Land of Plenty and Food Rebels, Guerrilla Gardeners, and Smart Cookin’ Mamas: Fighting Back in an Age of Industrial Agriculture will be available for purchase. There will be a book signing on Friday from 4-4:30pm and from 8:30-9pm. For more about Mark Winne, visit www.markwinne.com.
All food and films are FREE to the public.
This event is being made possible through the generous funding from STAC (The Student Activities Council), the NAU Green Fund (a student-led, student-created, and student-funded organization) and a community non-profit, Flagstaff Foodlink and the Masters of Arts in Sustainable Communities Program.
